Title I provides financial assistance to schools with high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Title I funds help pay for additional staffing to provide that structured support. Here at VCS, our Title I support is geared specifically for reading and math help to address common need areas. Title I exists to help low income communities in servicing the needs of students who are likely behind in their academic achievement. To this end, VCS uses our Title I funds to help fund a staff position that is dedicated to helping students in reading and math. The students who qualify are able to receive additional support during the day to improve their skills and increase achievement.
